坂本淳 個展 ｜ Waterside
この度THE POOLでは、坂本淳の個展 「Waterside」を開催いたします。
坂本は制作行為によって「忘れることに抵抗」するため、記憶の発生から消失に至るメカニズムを可視化させる作品を制作してきました。
これまで広島という場所や写真の持つ記憶と歴史に向き合ってきた坂本ですが、新作で構成される本展示では、独自の手法であるInkjet Transfer Printsの新シリーズとペインティング作品によって、忘却と想起のあいだを捉えるための空間創出を試みます。
手法とモチーフに新展開を迎えた坂本の挑戦にご期待ください。
私のテーマは記憶、モチーフは写真と広島です。
制作は「忘れることに抵抗する」という素朴な動機から始まり、動機はそのまま全ての作品を貫くコンセプトとなっています。
私にとって作品と展示は「忘れることに抵抗するための場所」です。
今回の個展では新作8点を展示します。
2人の画家の仕事から取材した写真と、夜景などを描き写した絵画です。
展示は会場を「水辺」と見立てる構成です。
砂浜や砂州のように揺らぐ水辺、直接捉えることの出来ない「忘却と想起の間」の水辺です。
私の目的はひとつ。
作品と展示を通して、あなたにも忘れることに抵抗してもらう、それだけです。
有意義な時間となることを願っています。

My theme is memory.
My motifs are photography and Hiroshima.
The production began with a simple motive: to resist oblivion.
This motive is a concept that runs through all my work.
For me, my artworks and my exhibition are “a place to resist oblivion”.
In this exhibition, I will present eight new works.
They are photographs taken from the work of two painters and paintings based on photographs of night scenes.
I arranged this exhibition as if the venue were a “waterside”.
It is a shimmering waterside as sandy shores or sandbars, a waterside “between oblivion and remembrance”, which cannot be captured directly.
My purpose is only one:
Through my work and the exhibition, I will have you resist oblivion.
That’s it. I hope it will be a meaningful time for you.

2003年 須田一政氏から写真を学び大阪芸術大学卒業
2012年 映像制作会社勤務を経てフリーランスに
以降、記憶を主題とする作品を制作中
Jun Sakamoto
Photographer, living in Hiroshima City
1979 Sakamoto was born in Higashi-Hiroshima City, Japan.
2003 He graduated from Osaka University of Arts where he studied photography from Issei Suda.
2012 He became a freelancer. After working for a video production company.
2014 On the advice of Tatsumi Sato, he resumed his career as an artist after an eight-year hiatus.
Since then, he has been creating works based on the theme of memory.
